Miami, FL, U.S., December, 2007 – Affirming a commitment to producing high quality sulfonylurea herbicides, Rotam North America, Inc., a crop protection unit of the Rotam Group is adding another product from this valuable herbicide class. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency recently registered Primero™ postemergent herbicide, containing nicosulfuron the same active ingredient found in Accent®. Primero™ can be used in all varieties of field corn including popcorn, sweet corn and corn grown for seed, and is especially effective in controlling escaped grasses.
Rotam produces all sulfonylurea herbicides in dedicated manufacturing facilities giving Rotam control over product quality from active synthesis through port of delivery, including formulation and packaging. “Our goal is to provide top quality sulfonylureas at performance and cost levels that will optimize grower profits,” says Tom Chavez, Rotam country manager. Rotam also has several years experience in manufacturing and selling quality sulfonylureas around the world.
Nicosulfuron and the family of sulfonylureas are known for environmental compatibility and selective postemerge weed control at low use rates. Rotam also recently registered Volta™ thifensulfuron-methyl for broadleaf weed control in grains, corn and soybeans. For pasture and rangeland, Rotam offers metsulfuron-methyl sold under the brand name Plotter™.
Rotam has more than 20 years experience in post-patent crop protection, and recently expanded their sales team in the U.S. to support this product line expansion.
Primero is not yet registered in all states.
